The jersey image you have for 1948-49 is that jersey (with the player’s number on their shorts). So your years are slightly off.

They dropped the number on their shorts in 1948-49 and used the same updated jersey you show for 1949-50.

Why one and not the other? Some might say that Nike is the manufacturer of the jerseys so it’s different. But Nike pays the NBA to have their ad patch on there, not the other way around. Plus the NBA barred such manufacturer patches for decades. That makes it an ad. Seems odd to have one and not the other. We get enough advertising in our daily lives, we shouldn’t be giving companies like Nike free advertising. Especially when it will just lead to WNBA-type jerseys soon.
But, I hate to be all negative. Tremendous job in compiling all these, and giving us all the deep history dating all the way back to Minnesota. A great resource for all basketball and jersey fans.
