With the NBA season now over, and the OKC Thunder being crowned champs, we have taken the opportunity to get LakerStats completely updated through the end of the 2024-25 season. I know that we got behind a little bit over the last couple years, but we’ve caught up, and all stats are up-to-date and accurate. Just an FYI, we are going to be working on updating box scores of older seasons over the rest of the summer. Right now our internal box scores only go back to the 1989-90 season, and we link to Basketball Reference for box scores before that. But we will be putting all older box scores into our database, it’s just a big process that will take a lot of man hours, but the goal is to get it done all the way back to the inaugural 1948-49 season. It’s a big undertaking, but we’re determined to finish it. Thanks for the support! Go Lakers in 2025-26!

I have been so upset and shocked the last few days as I’m sure you have, I haven’t really thought how to post something on the site. I still don’t know what to really say, except the basketball world lost an icon on Sunday, not to mention Kobe’s lovely 13-old daughter Gigi, and seven other innocent people whose families have lost love ones. It’s a horrible, horrible, unfathomable tragedy that is just so hard to accept, but there’s no choice but to move forward of course.

I’ve always used Kobe’s image as part of the avatar for LakerStats on social media, and his picture has always been on the top left of the site, so I won’t have to make any changes to honor him that way on here. All I can say is RIP to all those innocent people who perished, my prayers go out to Vanessa, Kobe’s children, and all the families and friends who lost loved ones. Also best wishes to Laker fans, Kobe fans, and all basketball fans who have been hit hard by this terrible event. Mamba Out…But Never Forgotten!

For 11 years we never really saw the need to be on the social network sites, although we do post some of the box score info on Twitter from time to time. But in an effort to get the word out there about our site and the resource it can be to those Lakers fans who like stats and want to visit a site that focuses only on the Lakers, we thought it would be wise to be on all the social media sites including Facebook. We would appreciate it if you would like our page there as we work to build awareness of the site. Thank you so much!

So it’s been a while since we updated Lakerstats with everything after the conclusion of the 2011-12 season, but as of today, all stats and information are 100% up-to-date.

Dwight Howard shows off new Lakers jersey at press conference.

In celebration of the all the incredible acquisitions that Mitch Kupchak and the front office made in the offseason, which included Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, we have updated the web site title banner in honor of these monumental moves.

In addition to Nash and Howard, the Lakers also signed former All-Star Antawn Jamison, sharp-shooter Jodie Meeks, guard Chris Duhon, and forward Earl Clark from Orlando in the DH12 trade. In fact the Lakers have just three players on their roster who were with the team when they beat Boston for the title in 2010, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Metta World Peace. It’s definitely a new chapter this season, one that hopefully ends with the franchise’s 17th NBA championship!

Steve Nash with his new #10 Lakers jersey.

We’re also going to get the rest of the site updated this year to the correct look. Some of the old stat pages still have the old web site’s layout, but that will be fixed. It’s just a big process to convert those pages over, but we will get them uniform very soon.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email us at info@lakerstats.com. Thank you for your support, and here’s to a very special season for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2012-13!

After five years, it was time for a facelift, and frankly I was never that happy with the colors and the look the site had back then. Now it’s done the way I envisioned it when I set out to start it.

All the pages do need to be updated for the new style, and that’s going to take a bit of time. So you will notice a lot of the sections still have the old layout and colors, but have no fear, they will be switched soon.

We would like to hear your thoughts on the new site, so please click the “Comments” link below and leave your feedback. Thanks!

This time, they beat the champs 90-86 at the SBC Center in San Antonio on Wednesday night.

The Lakers used a stifling fourth quarter defense to turn a nine-point third quarter deficit into a four-point victory. The Spurs shot only 16.7% (3-of-18) from the field in the final quarter, and Shaquille O’Neal contributed five of his game-high nine blocks in the quarter to seal the win.

<a href="/playerprofile.php?playerid=2>Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 21 points, but it was O’Neal’s defensive presence in the middle that really set the tone for the entire game. O’Neal scored only two points in the first half, but nearly missed a triple-double for the game, as he finished with 15 points, 16 rebounds, and nine blocked shots.

Devean George, who kept the Lakers in the game with some early hot shooting, finished with 18 points on 7-of-13 from the field, and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Karl Malone scored 16 and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Gary Payton added 16 points and six assists.

The Spurs led the game in the first half by as many as 15 points, but simply could not hold the lead as the Lakers applied defensive pressure throughout the second half. After shooting over 50% from the field for most of the game, the Spurs finished at only 41.7%, the Lakers at 42.3%. The Lakers also forced 20 San Antonio miscues, turning them into 22 points.

The win was the Lakers seventh in a row, and they now own the season series against the Spurs, who dropped to 9-10 with the fourth consecutive loss. The Lakers are an NBA-best 15-3, 5-3 on the road.

Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 30 points and 15 rebounds, but he missed all five of his shots in the fourth quarter.

The Lakers finish up their two-game Texas trip tonight at Dallas, where the Mavs will most likely be without All-Star forward Dirk Nowitski, who is nursing a sore ankle.
